Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
I’ve seen this book floating around, but I finally went to Goodreads to check it out, and wow, does it sound good!
Stop the Magician.
Steal the book.
Save the future. In modern day New York, magic is all but extinct. The remaining few who have an affinity for magic—the Mageus—live in the shadows, hiding who they are. Any Mageus who enters Manhattan becomes trapped by the Brink, a dark energy barrier that confines them to the island. Crossing it means losing their power—and often their lives.
Tessa is a talented thief, and she’s been raised to steal magical artifacts from the sinister Order that created the Brink. With her innate ability to manipulate time, Tessa can pilfer from the past, collecting these artifacts before the Order even realizes she’s there. And all of Tessa’s training has been for one final job: traveling back to 1901 to steal an ancient book containing the secrets of the Order—and the Brink—before the Magician can destroy it and doom the Mageus to a hopeless future.
But Old New York is a dangerous world ruled by ruthless gangs and secret societies, a world where the very air crackles with magic. Nothing is as it seems, including the Magician himself. And for Tessa to save her future, she may have to betray everyone in the past.
The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell. Releases in April 2017 from Simon Pulse. First of all, I love this cover! It’s pretty creepy. I haven’t read anything by Maxwell yet, but this looks like a good place to start. New York is one of my favorite settings, and how can you go wrong with a female thief??
Let me know what you’re waiting on this week!
Like the sound of this one. Thanks for highlighting it!

Is it wrong that before I visit your site on Wednesdays, I just automatically think “Hmmm…what am I adding to the TBR this week?” At least this one was already on it. I’ve read Sweet Unrest by this author and didn’t LOVE it, but definitely enjoyed it. The cover is really creepy and so close to actual snakes that I almost threw it off my list – haha. I can handle skeleton snakes though – I think. They are snakes aren’t they?

Ha ha, well glad I didn’t add to your long list of must reads, lol! Yes, I believe these are snakes:-)
That cover, wow!!!!!! I’m pretty much sold on it! Off to make sure it is on my Goodreads TBR now. You can check out my WOW in the link below!

That cover is kind of freaky! I like the idea of mixing time travel and thieving though… this one could be good.

I’ve actually read some time travel/thief books that I really enjoyed, maybe that’s why this is calling to me!
This sounds like a fascinating, enthralling story – and I agree that the cover is a powerful magnet, both for the image and the colors. I was not aware of this one, and will add it to my “wanted” list, thanks for sharing! 🙂
The cover is simply yet really powerful. That alone makes me want to own a copy:-)
Great setting – and female thief = winner!
Lynn 😀
I definitely have a soft spot for female thieves…hope this one is good!
I’m hoping this book is as good as it’s cover, which I am in love with. Totally have this one my list, too! Enjoy it!
Me too, LOVE this cover:-)
The name Lisa Maxwell sounded familiar to me, then I remembered she was also the author of Unhooked! I was totally disappointed by that book, so I’ll probably be approaching this one with caution. Hope you get to read it, I’d love to hear what you think first!

Oh bummer! I haven’t read Unhooked, but I vaguely remember your review, now that you mention it. I’m willing to take a chance on this one:-)
Yaaasss, I can’t wait to read this book as well! You must give Unhooked a chance, Tammy. It is SO good. I hope you enjoy this new Maxwell book when you get a chance to read it!
Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a fantastic week, Tammy. =)
