Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. This story sounds trippy! A mystery set on a spaceship, with resurrected clones…
A space adventure set on a lone ship where the murdered crew are resurrected through cloning to discover who their killer was — and the secret to their mission.
It was not common to awaken in a cloning vat streaked with drying blood.
At least, Marie Shea iv had never experienced it. She had no memory of how she died. That was also new; before, when she had awakened as a new clone, her first memory was of how she died, from illness once and from injury once…
Maria’s vat was in the front of six vats, each one holding the clone of a crew member of the starship Pituitary, each clone waiting for its previous incarnation to die so it could awaken. Apparently Maria wasn’t the only one to die recently.
Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty releases in October 2016 from Orbit. I love this cover, and the story sounds awesome!
Let me know what you’re waiting on!
Every time I see this book all I can think of is how similar it sounds to the TV show Dark Matter. But I thought the show was really poorly written so here’s a chance to experience a similar story executed much more expertly!
I have a new appreciated for clones after totally getting into “Orphan Black” so maybe I will check this one out. I am really enjoying the cover. I see you are planning on reading “The Star-Touched Queen.” I need to see if my library has it as I have heard great things so far.
This story sounds beyond awesome. I added it to my list immediately. Very excited for this one!!!
This sounds completely fantastic! Adding it to my wish list
I do love that cover! After watching HUMANS I am interested in all things clones, robotics, etc.
Fascinating premise and arresting cover: nothing more is required to place this book on my list
I used to listen to Mur’s podcast a lot! I really should pick this one up to read something by her.
This one does sound pretty trippy! I might have to check it out when it comes out.
I had this one marked on my watch list too! Really looking forward to finding out more.
Oh! A murdered and then resurrected crew? This sounds like it could be quite good.
This sounds like it could be really fun! Thanks for the tip
