Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
I just stumbled upon this book, and was immediately hooked by the comparisons to Station Eleven and The Martian:
A debut novel set at the edges of civilization: a lonely scientist in the Arctic, and an astronaut returning from a long journey, each haunted by questions of love, memory, and regret, in the face of an uncertain future.
On the return from a long voyage through outer space, Sully and her crewmates find that communications from Mission Control on earth have suddenly gone dark. At the same time, Augie, an aging scientist at a remote research outpost in the Arctic, decides to stay put even when an evacuation order is issued. As Sully and Augie each face uncertain futures, they begin making sense of their own lives: the people they have loved, the sacrifices they have made, the memories that haunt them. With crystalline prose and piercing emotional insight, Lily Brooks-Dalton captures the heartbreaking regrets and profound bravery of Sully and Augie—two outsiders whose stories gradually twine together in surprising ways. Good Morning, Midnight is a stunning meditation on the power of love at the end of the world.
Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton releases in August 2016 from Random House. This cover is definitely screaming “Station Eleven!!” at me…this sounds like more of a meditative apocalyptic story, which is nice to read every now and then. I’ll definitely be checking this out.
What about you? Let me know what you’re waiting on!
Oh, this does sound good! Just added it to the TBR!

It does have a Station Eleven feel to it. I really need to get on that book by the way. I have been trying to read more sci-fi this year to see if it’s a genre I enjoy and this sounds like a great addition. Thanks for sharing it!

Yes, this sounds awesome. Putting it on my TBR too!
What is it about books that take place in the lonely arctic that get me EVERY SINGLE TIME! I haven’t read Station Eleven yet (which will have to on the TBR soon), but this cover reminded me of it too.

I also haven’t read Station Eleven although I have a copy – it’s going to be a blackburn book I think – and yes, the cover does look familiar.
This sounds great. I will definitely add this to my list.

Wow, even the cover is giving me a Station Eleven vibe! Not a huge fan of apocalyptic books, but this one sounds like it could be really good.
