Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
My pick this week is a novel based on a popular podcast, and even though I’m not familiar with it, the story sounds right up my alley:
Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor. Releases in October 2015 from Orbit. This upcoming novel is based on the podcast of the same name, and not only was there a Welcome to Night Vale booth at Comic Con, but there was an entire panel devoted to it as well. No ARCs that I was able to pick up, unfortunately, but I did buy a t-shirt! Here’s the description from Goodreads:
Night Vale is a small desert town where all the conspiracy theories you’ve ever heard are actually true. It is here that the lives of two women, with two mysteries, will converge. Nineteen-year-old Night Vale pawn shop owner Jackie Fierro is given a paper marked ‘KING CITY’ by a mysterious man in a tan jacket. She can’t seem to get the paper to leave her hand, and no one who meets this man can remember anything about him. Jackie is determined to uncover the mystery of King City before she herself unravels. Diane Crayton’s son, Josh, is moody and also a shape shifter. And lately Diane’s started to see her son’s father everywhere she goes, looking the same as the day he left years earlier. Josh, looking different every time Diane sees him, shows a stronger and stronger interest in his estranged father, leading to a disaster Diane can see coming, even as she is helpless to prevent it. Diane’s search to reconnect with her son and Jackie’s search for her former routine life collide as they find themselves coming back to two words: ‘KING CITY’. It is King City that holds the key to both of their mysteries, and their futures …if they can ever find it.
Have you listened to this podcast? Let me know what you’re waiting on:-D
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve heard really good things about the podcast, but I just find myself always picking audiobooks or music instead of podcasts. 🙂 I hadn’t realized they were putting a book out, quite curious about it 🙂

I had never even heard of this until I went to Comic Con, so it must be one of those niche things. I did go to the website and try to listen to a podcast, but I don’t know if podcasts are really my thing, LOL! Hopefully the book will work for me.
Haven’t heard of this one. I hope you enjoy it! My WOW

Cool! I’m definitely entering your giveaway Kayley! Thanks for the heads up:-)
A lot of people really like this podcast. I listen to podcasts but not this one (still can’t get the hang of stories in audio). I’ve heard that the story is good, but had no idea that they were making a book based off of it. I may check it out.
I’ve not listened to this podcast, but very nice find! I was interested so I went to look up more info. Guess this one is coming from Orbit UK which is probably why I hadn’t seen it in their US catalog, but whew looks like Harper Collins will be the publisher stateside for around the same time!

Oh cool, I didn’t realize this was Orbit UK. I wonder if the cover will change?
Great pick! I didn’t know about this one until now but it sounds so good! I absolutely love the cover. 🙂
