Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books we’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. I’m always on the lookout for new cover reveals, and I believe this one is pretty recent. I just love the sound of this book, about a girl who is kidnapped and taken to Neverland. I’m not sure if this is a Peter Pan story or not, but it sounds really good.
The Stars Turned Away by Lisa Maxwell. Releases February 2016 from Simon Pulse. I love the dark and creepy cover with the floating island! Maxwell is the author of the Sweet Unrest series, which I haven’t read, but I’ve heard good things about. This book appears to be a stand-alone, but you never know…here’s what Goodreads has to say:
For as long as she can remember, Gwendolyn Allister has never had a place to call home—all because her mother believes that monsters are hunting them. Now these delusions have brought them to London, far from the life Gwen had finally started to build for herself. The only saving grace is her best friend, Olivia, who’s coming with them for the summer.
But when Gwen and Olivia are kidnapped by shadowy creatures and taken to a world of flesh-eating sea hags and dangerous Fey, Gwen realizes her mom might have been sane all along.
The world Gwen finds herself in is called Neverland, yet it’s nothing like the stories. Here, good and evil lose their meaning and memories slip like water through her fingers. As Gwen struggles to remember where she came from and find a way home, she must choose between trusting the charming fairy-tale hero who says all the right things and the roguish young pirate who promises to keep her safe.
With time running out and her enemies closing in, Gwen is forced to face the truths she’s been hiding from all along. But will she be able to save Neverland without losing herself?
Let me know what you’re waiting on:-D
I agree with you, this sounds (and looks) really great! This has to be added to my TBR pile!
Thank you for sharing!

Ha ha I know the feeling! WoW is super fun:-)
Honestly, I’m not sure about this one. It sounds like it could be really good, but I think it could go either way for me.

Despite the fact that I really dislike Peter Pan (too racist and sexist, even for a classic) this sounds awesome! Like Lisa I’m a little torn about which way this could go, but I’m optimistic. ‘Dangerous fey’ is a phrase that makes me want to auto-buy.

I had seen the cover but hadn’t yet read the summary! Very creepy sounding! Going to have to check this one out now. 🙂 Great pick!!
I actually really like the sounds of this, sounds a bit dark and maybe even a little bit menacing? Plus the cover is really eye catching.
I will keep my thoughts open on this one and add to the list as one to watch for.
Thanks
Lynn 😀

I liked how this one started out with “monsters under the bed” being real! But it kind of lost me with the hero and pirate… If it went more the horror route with the dark and creepy stuff, I think I’d be more into it.
That cover is amazing!

Hmm, a story that has shades of Peter Pan? Intriguing! Though I hope there won’t be another love triangle type scenario involving Pan and Hook, though it kind of sounds like there is.
