Welcome to my June What’s On My Plate! School is out, and life at home is a bit less stressful, at least for a little while. I hope you all have wonderful plans for the summer! I’m excited because San Diego Comic Con is getting closer—it’s next month, finally! Until then, I have plenty of books to catch up on. Here’s what you can expect to see on the blog this month:
For review:
Sweet by Emmy Laybourne. I poked my head in this one already and I’m seriously hooked. We’ll see how the rest goes:-D
The Undying Legion by Clay Griffith and Susan Griffith. Book two in the Crown & Key series, this follows closely on the heals of book one. I’m looking forward to jumping back into the Griffiths’ crazy action-filled world.
Cocoon by David Saperstein. I’m very excited to read the novel that the movie Cocoon was based upon. Remember that movie? Maybe only folks my age will, it came out in 1985 and won an Academy Award.
The Chart of Tomorrows by Chris Willrich. This is the third book in Willrich’s Gaunt and Bone series, and I look forward to revisiting his lovely writing and storytelling.
Don’t Stay Up Late by R.L. Stine. A lovely publicist sent me this copy a couple of months ago, and I nearly forgot about it! I’ll be reading it for sure this month. My first R.L. Stine!
The Dangerous Type by Loren Rhoads. This is the start of a new series, and I always like to get in on those when I can. This is described as a space opera with assassins!
Darkhaven by A.F.E. Smith. I’ll be interviewing Anna next month, so I plan to read her book soon.
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine. Ooh, I’m so excited that this is the first book in Caine’s new series! I’ve already read some glowing reviews and I can’t wait to get started on it. It’s also one of my Ace Roc Stars books.
Giveaways/Author Visits:
BB&B Book Review Giveaway: As always, I’ll be giving away one of my review books from May, beginning June 15th, so don’t forget to check it out! Lots of good books to choose from if you win:-D
Tomorrow, June 2, I’m happy to be hosting Clay Griffith and Susan Griffith for the release day of The Shadow Revolution. And, the publisher is giving away a copy to one U.S. winner! Don’t miss it.
Backlist Burndown/Women of Genre Reading Challenge:
Not sure I’ll have time for a backlist book this month, but if I do, I’d love to FINALLY read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. Wish me luck!
I usually end up reading books that aren’t on my list, so you just never know what’s going to happen. I have some catching up to do from last month, so we’ll see how productive I can be this month. Let me know if you plan to read any of these books!
I ate my way through everything R.l. Stine I could find when I was a teen. Not particularly terrified, but I liked reading his stories. Will look forward to seeing what you think of that new one! It’s YA, right?

Yes this one is YA, I remember his other series as being middle grade.
I’ve never read Rachel Caine’s work before, but I LOVE the cover for Ink and Bone, and the idea of a speculative fiction story revolving around a library. So I’ll be looking forward to your review of that book! Is it YA or adult? (No preference; just curious.)

I think it’s adult, which I’m very excited about:-)
Nice! Look forward to seeing what you think of Ink and Bone. And I really enjoyed The Coldest Girl in Coldtown 🙂

I’ve been meaning to read COLDEST GIRL… for a few years now. Uggg! Hope I can fit it in:-)
Looks like a fun filled month ahead! I also have a couple books from your June TBR I have to read. Holly Black is on my Women of Genre Fiction list too, but I think I chose The Darkest Part of the Forest for my challenge 🙂

Oh I want to read that one too. I hear it’s fantastic:-)
I’m so excited about Ink and Bone, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that one! I mean…a book about libraries? Is there anything more delightfully meta?! People have been really enjoying the debut of the Crown & Key series; I’m thinking that I need to get in on that. It’s been a while since I last read something with a Victorian setting!

I’ve read some really good reviews already of Ink and Bone, so excited to get to it!
These all look so good! I have SWEET already and need to read it. And INK AND BONE sounds amazing! Happy reading!
I’ll be starting Sweet this week sometime, we’ll have to compare notes:-)
I’ve got ‘The Dangerous Type’ on my reading list for next month too. Space opera with assassins sounds so cool. I hope it delivers.
Happy reading!
