Waiting on Wednesday [136] – THE UNNOTICEABLES by Robert Brockway

WOW 2014 copy

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. Man, Tor sure seems to be on a roll! It seems like every time I turn around there is new Tor book that sounds awesome! This week I waiting on:

The Unnoticeables

The Unnoticeables by Robert Brockway. Releases in July 2015 from Tor Books. And did you notice how well this cover goes with my blog design?? I’m dying over this cover, people! It’s my favorite cover from 2015 so far. Here’s the Goodreads description:

There are angels, and they are not beneficent or loving. But they do watch over us. They watch our lives unfold, analyzing us for repeating patterns and redundancies. When they find them, the angels simplify those patterns, they remove the redundancies, and the problem that is you gets solved.

Carey doesn’t much like that idea. As a punk living in New York City, 1977, Carey is sick and tired of watching the strange kids with the unnoticeable faces abduct his friends. He doesn’t care about the rumors of tarmonsters in the sewers, or unkillable psychopaths invading the punk scene—all he wants is drink cheap beer and dispense asskickings.

Kaitlyn isn’t sure what she’s doing with her life. She came to Hollywood in 2013 to be a stunt woman, but last night a former teen heartthrob tried to eat her, her best friend has just gone missing, and there’s an angel outside her apartment.

Whatever she plans on doing with her life, it should probably happen in the few remaining minutes she has left of it.

There are angels. There are demons. They are the same thing. It’s up to Carey and Kaitlyn to stop them. The survival of the human race is in their hands.

We are, all of us, well and truly screwed.

  1. Your WoW choices are always the best, Tammy! Usually because I’ve never heard of the books before 😉 Punk subculture and the 1970s are both really interesting to me, so I’m thinking that I need to keep this one on my radar!

  2. Ooooh! I LOVE the cover! I hope it doesn’t sound a bit shallow… but I kinda need to read it just based on that! But! I love the sound of the blurb. ’70’s punk scene meets angels… I REALLY need to read it *nods* Thanks so much for sharing it, I hadn’t see it before 😀 Hope you enjoy it!

Great pick! I love the cover and it’s yet another book today that I haven’t heard of before but has gone straight on to my wishlist! And yes, Tor have got some great books this year – I want to read all of them 🙂

Me too, I could spend all my time reading Tor, they have so many coming out that I’m dying to read:-D

  4. OH, MY GOSH! That synopsis sounds really INTRIGUING! I am definitely going to add this to my TBR. And I agree, the book cover definitely matches your blog layout. I am very much looking forward to read this!

  5. Yes! This one sounds super fun! It’s been on my radar for a while thanks to a review I read online somewhere (wish I could remember where!). While I don’t want to rush July along, I can’t wait to read this one!
