Waiting on Wednesday (110) BLACK DOG by Caitlin Kittredge

WOW 2014 copy

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. I know it’s been quiet lately here on the blog, but I’m now back from San Diego Comic Con and ready to start posting again. I had an amazing time, and a recap is coming soon, but I literally got home Sunday around 5:00 p.m. and immediately had to go back to work the next day, so not much will happen between now and the weekend.

However, at the Harper panel this past weekend, I was introduced to this book, and I cannot wait to read it:

Black Dog 2

Black Dog by Caitlin Kittredge. Releases in October from HarperVoyager. You guys, I am so into urban fantasy at the moment. Having just finished the wonderful California Bones, I’m searching out new UF books to read. This one looks like it will be just the thing:

The first installment in a fabulous dark urban fantasy series—think Kill Bill with demons and gangsters instead of martial arts—from the award-winning author of the Iron Codex trilogy and Vertigo comic Coffin Hill

Ava has spent the last hundred years as a hellhound, the indentured servant of a reaper who hunts errant souls and sends them to Hell. When a human necromancer convinces her to steal her reaper’s scythe, Ava incurs the wrath of the demon Lilith, her reaper’s boss.

As punishment for her transgression, Lilith orders Ava to track down the last soul in her reaper’s ledger . . . or die trying.

But after a hundred years of servitude, it’s time for payback. And Hell hath no fury like an avenging Ava.

  1. I think this book looks fabulous too. I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for new UF series, so I grabbed this one the second it popped up on edelweiss 😉

Can’t wait to hear about SDCC!!

  2. Hope that one lives up to it’s premise. I would gladly read it if it does because it sounds kinda maybe really cool.

  3. There have been so many books with this title, I was a little mixed up at first! I think I’ve heard of this one, and it looks great. I hear you about urban fantasy, I think this is the longest I’ve gone without reading one and I’m getting the UF itch!

  4. Sounds like this one is right up your alley! I came home with the Comic Con cold and this hot muggy weather is not helping. You must be exhausted!

  5. I’ve read books written from the perspective of werewolves, were-panthers, even the occasional were-bear, but never hellhounds! This one sounds fabulous – and I’m always on the hunt for more UF.
