Buffy’s Corner 9/27/20 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Welcome to the last Buffy’s Corner of September 2020. I’m excited for October! I have quite a few spooky reads planned, and I hope I can get to all of them. I’ll be announcing my October TBR later this week (see below: What’s On My Plate).

My personal library cataloging project is almost done! Even though my son has gone back to school, and there is still a little left to do, the bulk of it is complete. As of today, I have a little over 3,700 books in my Libib library. The best part of this project—other than the fact that I didn’t have to do it, lol—is that everything has been dusted and straightened and alphabetized. Maybe next week I’ll post some photos, but in the meantime, here’s a lovely hubby nature photo for you:

Upcoming Reviews:

This week I’m expecting to only post one review, although I may get one up on Saturday. For sure, check back tomorrow for my review of The Hive Queen by Robin Kirk! I loved the second book in Robin’s The Bond Trilogy, she’s created such a unique world. If I can get my act together, I’d like to post my review of Jagged Edges & Moving Parts by Pete Mesling on Saturday.

Upcoming Reads:

We’re starting the month off with a bang, because as you’ll see in my What’s On My Plate post, there are a lot of big, high profile books coming out in October. Right now I’m reading Over the Woodward Wall by A. Deborah Baker (aka Seanan McGuire) and I’ll have my review up next week. So far I’m intrigued! Next up will be two highly anticipated books, The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab.

Memes, interviews and giveaways…

It’s a pretty busy week here on the blog! Tuesday I’ll be interviewing Robin Kirk, author of The Hive Queen, and I’ve also got an international giveaway for both books in the series, so do stop by and check it out. Wednesday I have some exciting cover reveals on Future Fiction, Thursday is the first of the month, so check in with What’s On My Plate to see what I’m reading in October. And the Friday Face-Off theme is “standout font,” which should be a lot of fun.

In case you missed…

Miss any of my posts last week? Here’s your chance to catch up:

  1. Well I can’t wait to see pictures of your library as it is now Tammy! And as usual, your husband’s picture is amazing! Have a great week.

  2. Another beautiful photo from your husband! Really nice light shining down through the trees, and I love the twisting trunks. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Once and Future Witches and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, both books I like to try. Enjoy your week!

Libib is an online library system where you can scan the bar code of a book with your phone ap and it automatically comes up in your library. It’s pretty cool!

  3. Yay, for almost finishing the catalog project! Wow, that is a lot of books! Are they all fiction? I think even with all of my fiction and non-fic combined I only had 2900 last time I looked (about that). And that was before I started purging LOL.

    • Tammy

They are about 95% fiction. I do have a few non fiction scattered here and there, but it’s just not my thing I guess.

  4. I love that photo. He has some real talent and I think I enjoy his animal shots the most. Looking forward to your thoughts on the Seanan McGuire book. I just read Into the Drowning Deep for a horror book club and loved it. Hope to have my review up Tuesday. Hope you have a great week and can’t wait to see that library!

Wait til you see the zoo shots he took. I’m going to feature those next Sunday:-) I’m glad you loved Into the Drowning Deep! Now you can read the other one, they are both so much fun.

  5. Yay for your book project almost being complete and WOW at 3,700 books! I’m jealous, lol. I’m hoping to dive into Once and Future Witches soon too. I’ve got that and Alice Hoffman’s book and I can’t decide which to start first since they are both highly anticipated fall reads for me.

There are about ten books I want to read all coming out on October 6th, and it’s making my head spin! Obviously I can’t read that fast, but I am actually having a hard time trying to figure out my reading order:-/
