Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. Three very exciting new books to share today, here we go!

Malice by Heather Walter. Releases in April 2021 from Del Rey Books. I think this sounds like a fun take on Sleeping Beauty, and it seems like it’s got some humor as well.

Later by Stephen King. Releases in March 2021 from Hard Case Crime. I believe this is the second (or maybe third) book King has written for Hard Case, and I’m glad to see they’re publishing a supernatural story, which is a little outside their normal crime genre. I love the sound of this, and I love the retro vibe of the cover!
Wow – The Last Watch sounds fantastic!! I would definitely love to get my hands on that.
I feel like I should be reading more fairy tale re-tellings… I’m not sure I’ve read any!! Malice sounds very good though.

While there is not doubt whatsoever that I would read the new King novel, I am powerfully drawn by The Last Watch: I could I not with a premise like this???? 😀

Dang! The Last Watch sounds really epic! Malic sounds good as well. I love a good fairytale retelling with a twist. I’m not a King fan but I hope you’ll enjoy it. 🙂

Right now I’m glad I’ve not yet read The Expance or Game of Thrones, as I like the sound of The Last Watch but really dislike all these describtions of books being like X meets Y. So not having read X or Y maybe I won’t be as likely to get caught up in any false expectations. 🙂 And a new Stephen King for Hard Case, I like it. Haven’t read King in quite a while but this one sounds intriguing and does bring to mind the things he often does so well, like the loss of youthful innocence.
I know what you mean, sometimes comparisons can ruin the book, if it doesn’t live up to them.
I saw the discussion about creating The Last Watch cover last week and that hooked my interest right there. Sounds like a fun read. Malice is a new one to me but I’m suitably intrigued!

You’ve got some great sounding choices here, Tammy! I’m especially drawn to The Last Watch. But I love all the covers–especially the retro feel of the Stephen King.

Of course I need the King book. I read The Colorado Kid which was a Hard Case Book but can’t think of the other one. Malice has such a pretty cover!

There has been a raft of stormingly good space opera adventures this year – and The Last Watch sounds like yet another awesome offering! And Malice also sounds fantastic – I like the thread of dark humour running through this one, too:)). I’ll pass on the King offering – but it still sounds intriguing. I know! I don’t always read every new SK book that comes out these days, but I want to make a point of reading Later.
Malice — that cover and that blurb made the hair on my arms stand up. Seriously, NEED that in my life. And Later toop — I need to find the others in this series from him.

I am ALWAYS excited for new Stephen King. I didn’t realize he worked with any different publishers though so that’s interesting. I was hoping he was going to put out a fall release so I was disappointed to see this wouldn’t be coming til next spring but oh well. I guess he’s earned a break… lol
