The Friday Face-Off: Flight

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: Flight

There are lots of interpretations of “flight” but I decided to go with “birds” because I found a book I love that just screams “flight”! All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders was one of my favorite books of 2016, has anyone read it? I only found four different covers and some of them are, well, let’s take a look:

U.S. edition (Tor Books) 2016 | Romanian edition 2017

Chinese edition 2017 | French edition

I feel like the French edition is trying to do something interesting, but I don’t like the big red awards announcement at the bottom. So the clear winner for me is the U.S. edition:

Which is your favorite?

  1. What a lovely choice for this week’s subject, Tammy:)) And yes – I’ve read the book and I loved it, too. It was one of my reading highlights of the year. And I have to go with your favourite cover, too – it doesn’t hurt that it was the cover for the edition I read:)).

I like the overall aesthetic of the Chinese cover. I prefer the colors, and the stars add depth. I agree that the French would be much better without the jarring awards notices.
