My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. For the last Future Fiction of May, I’m happy to feature three new fantasy books for Wyrd & Wonder:

The Mask of Mirrors (Rook & Rose #1) by M.A. Carrick. Releases in January 2021 from Orbit Books. This beautiful cover was revealed last week. I mean wow, right? M.A. Carrick is a pseudonym for Marie Brennan and Alyc Helms, cool right?

The Forever Sea (The Forever Sea #1) by Joshua Phillip Johnson. Releases in January 2021 from DAW Books. If I had to pick a favorite cover this week, it would be hard, but this one comes close! I absolutely love it, and I want to know why a boat is sailing in the middle of a grass field. This is fantasy debut that sounds really good!
Each one of these sounds promising. I stil need to try the Wayward Children books. And a fantasy with a con artist, a vigilante, and a crime lord working together? I like the sound of that. And who wouldn’t be curious about ships that sail on seas of grass?
I feel like it was a pretty good week for new books:-)
Seeing any new McGuire book makes me reach for it in a very Pavlovian reaction – and the blurb for this new Wayward Children installment sounds like the kind of story she does better. January seems so far away though…. 🙂

LGBT fantasy will always get my attention so I’m definitely interested in Mask of Mirrors! I’m not super keen on The Forever Sea, it’s not really my kinda plot, but that cover is STUNNING

They all seem amazing, and I want to read them all! But The Mask of Mirrors is the one that I covet the most. I never heard of it before, but I think I am in love with it anyway!

The Mask of Mirrors sounds interested (especially knowing that Brennan is behind it) and The Forever Sea looks and sounds amazing.
I’m always curious about authors who team up to write together, so it will be fun to see what The Mask of Mirrors is like.
I need to get caught up on the Wayward Children series stat! 🙂

Wayward Children is a series I actually know. I’ve only read the first book but I’ve been wanting to continue the series ever since. The cover of The Mask of Mirrors made me go OMG and the story sounds super awesome as well! The Forever Sea sounds fantastic as well. I’m forever adding books to my TBR because of you. 😀

I preordered the Wayward Children book basically the second it became available. 🙂 I love the idea of a grass sea! I’m going to have to check that one out for sure. Gorgeous covers!

Definitely some interesting picks this week and I had no idea about the pen name. I just knew when I was doing my post that you would probably have the McGuire book as well. I know how much we enjoy them.
I had a feeling you’d have the new Wayward Children book as well. But I’m surprised, I haven’t seen it on that many blogs.

Nice list! I’m especially curious about Across The Green Grass Fields. We had this old tree stump in our back yard when I was little and I imagined it was a gateway to a magical realm with magical creatures. I spent many hours daydreaming of great adventures:)

I’m on a bit of a McGuire break right now but that sure does look intriguing. All of these do really, those covers are drawing me in LOL.
I like the look of all three of these but the Forever Sea is very intriguing indeed.
