Last week I had a blast coming up with my Favorite Books A-Z – Female Writers, where I listed favorite books that started with each letter of the alphabet. This week it’s the guys’ turn! Obviously there are multiple faves for each letter, so this list isn’t complete by any means. I did enforce one rule on myself, and that was that I could only include one book for each author. In other words, even though I wanted to use Daryl Gregory for letters A, S and W, and Rod Belcher for B, K, N, S and Q (!!) I was not allowed! And the same caveat applies this week as well: if I included any trans or non-binary authors by accident on this list, please let me know so I can correct my mistake.
Let’s get started! (click on the titles to read my reviews)
A – Afterparty by Daryl Gregory
B – Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames
C – California Bones by Greg van Eekhout
D – Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
E – Endsinger by Jay Kristoff
F – The Fifth House of the Heart by Ben Tripp
G – The Genius Plague by David Walton
H – Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix
I – I Am Providence by Nick Mamatas
J – Jackaby by William Ritter
K – Kill Creek by Scott Thomas
L – The Last Sun by K.D. Edwards
M – The Martian by Andy Weir
N – The Naturalist by Andrew Mayne
O – One of Us by Craig diLouie
I’ve had a few of these on my lists overtime, and never really followed through on them. Looks like I might need to revisit! Namely: The Genius Plague and The Oracle Year. I’ve also had an interest in The Naturalist and Jackaby. And finally- I have no idea what that Steve Alten book is about but I think I need to add it!
Steve Alten’s books are CRAZY. Super over the top action with nasty man eating creatures of one type or another, lots of gore but super fun.
Yup. Definitely my kind of book! Lol
This is great – wish I’d thought to split my list into male and female. Twice the amount of books that way – what a cunning plan.
Some great reads on here. I particularly love seeing Fifth House – wasn’t there another book planned or did I just dream that?
Lynn 😀
I keep stalking Ben Tripp to see if he has another book coming out but I haven’t heard of anything yet:-(
Great list but oh no! I’ve only read one. I did much better with your female list. Maybe I read more female authors. I need to look at that someday. What a fun feature this has been!
You should do your own list sometime, it’s fun to see how many books you have for each letter.
So many awesome choices! I’m glad to see Jackaby made your list! 🙂
Actually, it was my only J book, but luckily it’s one I really enjoyed:-)
The Queen of Swords looks awesome!! I will definitely check it out! (also this is now 52 books I haven’t read since I haven’t read any of these or any of the ones on your female list )

Ha ha! Queen of Swords was so good, highly recommended!
Oh what a fabulous list! There are a number on there that are on my URGENT wishlist Dark Matter, The Naturalist and Wanderers to name but three.
Oooh all three of those are must reads, Sarah. Hope you can get to them someday:-)
Great list! I definitely need to check out a lot of these books ♥

Thanks Stephanie, they are all really good:-)
Some of these I really want to try!
I highly recommend ALL of them:-)
Another great list, Tammy. As with your list of female authors there’s only one on this list I’ve read (The Martian), but there are a couple I own and several others I hope to one day read. You and Mogsy inspired me to come up with a list of my own, or as much of one as I could. I’ll put that up Thursday. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cool, I can’t wait to see your list!
Such an amazing list, Tammy! I have a few of these on my shelf and need to read them. Dark Matter, Bloody Rose.
I have eight of these and found several of them through you!

Another fun list! I think Dark Matter is the only one I’ve read so far so I think I need to check out a few of the others. 🙂
Lots of awesome books, if you’re ever at a loss of what to read next – as if! lol
I see our lists have a lot in common! And yeah, I can see the last 5 letters being tough 😀
I don’t remember your list, but that doesn’t surprise me:-)
I really liked Horrorstor too.
I recently placed The Fifth House of the Heart on my TBR. I saw it on Mogsy’s list.
It’s so good! I’m just dying for him to write another book, it’s been so long.
I’m really enjoying these lists everyone is putting out! I think I’ve only read a couple off of yours. 🙂 I very much want to check out Jackaby, it sounds like a very ‘me’ type of book. 🙂
Jackaby and Kill Creek are both on my owned TBR list, and it makes me happy that they are among your faves. I don’t read a lot of books written by male authors, so I think I would have a lot of trouble with this!
