Spring has Sprung! Ten Spring Books I Can’t Wait to Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

I don’t know about you, but Spring makes me so happy, especially after a very cold winter! I actually have buds on my orange tree, which means the wonderful scent of orange blossoms will invade my house soon! And of course, Spring means it’s time for another TBR list. Because we’re already halfway through March, I’m sharing ten books that are coming out in April and May that I’m super excited to read:

Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan. Release date: 4/2/19. I’m on the blog tour for this book, and my tour stop is April 3rd. I’m kind of surprised by all the mixed reviews on Goodreads, but I’m still excited to start this.

The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling. Release date: 4/2/19. When I see comparisons to Gravity, The Martian and Annihilation, I get really excited for a book. Let’s hope those comparisons are right!

Atlas Alone by Emma Newman. Release date: 4/16/19.  This series just gets better and better. I’m sad that this is the last book in Newman’s Planetfall series, but I’m really excited to see how she wraps things up.

A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C. A. Fletcher. Release date: 4/23/19.  I may break down and read this in March, because I cannot WAIT. When one of your favorite authors (M.R. Carey) has a blurb on the cover, you just know this is going to be something special.

Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse. Release date: 4/23/19. Like many readers, I LOVED Trail of Lightning, the first book in the series, and I’m so excited to read this next one. Still no luck getting a review copy, though…

Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman. Release date: 5/7/19. Super excited to get a NetGalley approval for this book, as I’m a huge fan of this writing duo.

And now for my two “hand” books!

Westside by W.M. Akers. Release date: 5/7/19. I peeked at the first chapter and I was immediately hooked, and now I’m anxious to get back to it. This is a historical urban fantasy that sounds like fun!

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire. Release date: 5/7/19. There’s been some controversy lately over a blogger pirating the eARC of this book, but I’m hoping that only puts it in the spotlight and makes more people buy it. On a happier note, this sounds freaking amazing and I can’t wait to read it!

Pariah by W. Michael Gear. Release date: 5/14/19. I can’t wait to see how Gear wraps up his series! I’m also going to be doing an interview with the author in May, so stay tuned for more info:-D

Starship Repo by Patrick S. Tomlinson. Release date: 5/21/19. I had a lot of fun with Tomlinson’s last book, Gate Crashers, and I’m looking forward to this next book. It appears to be set in the same world, just based on the cover design, but I don’t see any real indication that this is the continuation of a series. Can’t wait!

So, Spring is going to be awesome for reading! What do you think? Are you planning to read any of these books as well?

  1. You always remind me of series/books I haven’t gotten to yet and then I get all huffy, puffy about not having enough time to read. 😛

  2. Can’t wait for your interview with Gear. We need to get more love for this series. And BTW, the book arrived safety yesterday – I did a small dance 🙂 I just received notice that I won a copy of Westside from Goodreads so it should be arriving soon as well. I’m reading A Boy and His Dog… next month for sure. Some good looking books here but what else is new 🙂

I agree, I feel like there needs to be way more people reading it! I’m glad your book got there safely! I also won a copy of Westside from Goodreads! Let me know when you get yours, mine isn’t here yet.

Cool, can’t wait to read it, and I have one more book (or two) before I can dive into A Boy and His Dog.

I can’t wait to start Wicked Saints! It’s got such good author endorsements that I’m really hoping it works for me:-)

  3. I had such mixed feelings about Wicked Saints, but it’s definitely one I’d still recommend and I’m looking forward to seeing other people’s thoughts upon release! I am extremely excited for so many of these, particularly Westside, Aurora Rising, The Luminous Dead, and Middlegame. I was so frustrated by the pirating issue, it’s always a horrible thing, but it feels especially wrong and frustrating when it happens to a book that’s not even out. Regardless, I’m super excited for these and I hope you enjoy them!

I’m very curious to see where I fall with Wicked Saints, also I hope I enjoy it because I’m on the blog tour and that could get awkward!

  4. So looking forward to your interview with W. Michael Gear!!! This series has surpassed every expectation I might have had for the genre and the theme, and I’m very curious to learn more about this author. Oh, and give in and read A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World as soon as you can: you will not regret it… 🙂

There are WAY too many books coming out, it’s sort of making me anxious because I know I can’t read them all:-)

  5. I’ve seen so many people looking forward to Wicked Saints (and honestly, the blurb sounds awesome) that it’s convinced me to pick it up, too. xD Yay, peer pressure!

So many books on this list sound great. I’m thinking I should check out Aurora Rising, too, and congrats on your ARC. 🙂 It’s always extra special to get one for something you’re really looking forward to. 😉

I smiled when you mentioned looking forward to spring and the scent of orange blossoms. As I read this post I’m drinking an orange and cinnamon spice herbal tea, enjoying the scent of oranges. 🙂 I see many books in this grouping I’d be interesting in reading. The one that stands out the most at the moment is Atlas Alone, though I still need to catch on the series.

  7. So many good books! I’m really looking forward to reading Middlegame. I’ve only read Into The Drowning Deep by her. I’m hoping to get to the Wayward Children soon since it was optioned for TV!

  8. I’m waiting to read a few of these and wouldn’t mind a couple of the others – although it’s just greed really because I’m a bit swamped at the moment so couldn’t really take on board any more.
Can’t wait to start A Boy and His Dog and also Westside.
    Lynn 😀

You can always want to read more, even if you don’t have time to read everything. My Goodreads “want to read” is over 2000 books right now, lol!
