Waiting on Wednesday [317] – MIDDLEGAME by Seanan McGuire

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

I just happened to see this cover revealed on the Tor.com website, and I couldn’t be more excited. This story sounds WEIRD but so good:

Meet Roger. Skilled with words, languages come easily to him. He instinctively understands how the world works through the power of story.

Meet Dodger, his twin. Numbers are her world, her obsession, her everything. All she understands, she does so through the power of math.

Roger and Dodger aren’t exactly human, though they don’t realise it. They aren’t exactly gods, either. Not entirely. Not yet.

Meet Reed, skilled in the alchemical arts like his progenitor before him. Reed created Dodger and her brother. He’s not their father. Not quite. But he has a plan: to raise the twins to the highest power, to ascend with them and claim their authority as his own.

Godhood is attainable. Pray it isn’t attained.

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire. Releases in May 2019 from Tor.com. I have no idea what this is about, but it doesn’t really matter. I’m pretty excited to read a new standalone fantasy novel from McGuire! And what about that creepy cover??

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

  1. I will read anything this woman writes. This one is new to me but now I am anxiously awaiting it too. However, I do wish there wasn’t so much writing on the fingers of the hand. Oh and Roger and Dodger…..gotta love it.

It’s so true, she writes so fast, and with a pen name as well, I guess she can write twice as much as other writers, lol.

  2. This makes me excited! That cover is awesome and I really have no idea what it’s about still, but I’m in! Thanks for sharing, I had no idea she had this one coming out. 🙂

  3. I haven’t read any of this author’s books, but I have heard amazing things. I am going to need to change that because this book does sound interesting. Thanks so much for sharing it! 🙂
