Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
I can’t resist books that have a Stranger Things comparison (I know, sometimes I’m a slave when it comes to “Blank Meets Blank”! And I love the sound of this upcoming YA:
The Serpent King meets Stranger Things in Emily Henry’s gripping novel about a group of friends in a small town who find themselves dealing with unexpected powers after a cosmic event.
Almost everyone in the small town of Splendor, Ohio, was affected when the local steel mill exploded. If you weren’t a casualty of the accident yourself, chances are a loved one was. That’s the case for seventeen-year-old Franny, who, five years after the explosion, still has to stand by and do nothing as her brother lies in a coma.
In the wake of the tragedy, Franny found solace in a group of friends whose experiences mirrored her own. The group calls themselves The Ordinary, and they spend their free time investigating local ghost stories and legends, filming their exploits for their small following of YouTube fans. It’s silly, it’s fun, and it keeps them from dwelling on the sadness that surrounds them.
Until one evening, when the strange and dangerous thing they film isn’t fiction–it’s a bright light, something massive hurdling toward them from the sky. And when it crashes and the teens go to investigate…everything changes.
When the Sky Fell on Splendor by Emily Henry. Releases in March 2019 from Razorbill. I’ve never read anything by Henry before, but I know she has lots of fans. I love this cover, and the title is original so props to it as well!
Well, this is going straight to my wishlist! It sounds amazing and I can definitely see the Stranger Things vibes, which I love!
I do like the sound of this one!
YAY I have heard of this author! I’ve not read any of her books though. I also haven’t tried The Serpent King or watched Stranger Things. But I’m sure the comparison is solid nonetheless. I hope you enjoy this one when you read it, Tammy!
Have a wonderful day. =)

When I first saw the cover, it reminded me of the Star Trek badge on everyone’s uniforms! I love the sounds of this Tammy!
Oh you’re right, it does look like the Star Trek badge, I wonder if it was intentional?
I was wondering about that too!
Seems like Razorbill releases a lot of good books. I love the cover AND the description for this one.
I love Razorbill, hopefully this lives up to the premise:-)
Seems like quite a few people are excited for this one!
Right now I don’t think I have anything I’m waiting on that’s coming out this year but I’m sure I’ll come across something new and put it on my list. 🙂
I wish I didn’t have so many upcoming books that I wanted to read. Sometimes it makes me crazy when there are so many coming out in 2019 that I already want to read:-/
I haven’t been reading a whole lot of YA lately but this does sound a lot like Stranger Things and I’d be totally okay with having more of that in my life. 🙂

I’m always willing to try anything that compares itself to Stranger Things:-)
Darn it! I was hoping against hope that you suddenly writing about a book I DIDN’T want was setting a pattern – it wasn’t. I LOVE the idea of this one… Thank you for sharing – I think!
Sorry Sarah! But I think we both agree this deserves an “add.”
This sounds so good. I couldn’t resist running straight over to Goodreads to add it to my reading list 🙂
I felt the same way when I came across it:-)
Already got this on my wish list. It sounds perfect!

Doesn’t it? I’m ready for some fun:-)
Don’t feel bad, I am a sucker for those “blank meets blank” descriptions too, lol! I’m a little wary about this one being YA, but if it does manage to live up to the Stranger Things comparison, this could be good!
I know what you mean, I tend to be wary of YA these days as well. But I’m optimistic about this one!
I love the sound of this one. Will definitely want to read it – it goes on the list.
Lynn 😀
Wednesdays: the day your TBR gets bigger, lol.
Okay so that cover is INCREDIBLE and the book sounds so interesting. Adding this to my 2019 anticipated list!!!

I was surprised by how excited I am for this too!
Gotta admit there’s totally a Stranger Things vibe to that cover!
