Waiting on Wednesday [285] – THE UNDERWATER BALLROOM SOCIETY edited by Tiffany Trent & Stephanie Burgis

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

This idea sounds so cool! And the idea of an underground ballroom is based on a real thing, which makes this collection even more enticing. I’m a big fan of Stephanie Burgis, and I can’t wait to find out how different authors interpret this theme.

An anthology of sparkling adult f/sf stories featuring underwater ballrooms of one sort or another, from a 30s ballroom to a Martian hotel to a grand rock ‘n roll ball held in the heart of Faery itself. Edited by Stephanie Burgis and Tiffany Trent.

The Underwater Ballroom Society edited by Tiffany Trent & Stephanie Burgis. Releases in April 2018 from Five Fathoms Press. Not much of a blurb, but it’s enough for me:-) I’ve been reading so many short stories this year, I’m not sure why, but I hope to continue this trend throughout the rest of the year.

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

  1. I did not expect underwater ballrooms to be a real thing, never mind the theme for these stories! And damn that cover looks etheral! Great find Tammy!

I love when authors find real life things that inspire them, especially when those things are so interesting:-)

  2. Oh what a wonderful theme for an anthology:)). I look forward to hearing what you make of this one, Tammy *visibly resisting the urge to go and request it*

I just checked for it on NetGalley but didn’t see it. I think the editors are running a contest for an eARC though. I should have linked that up! You could probably google it, though.

It’s definitely a unique idea, and I’m so curious to see how different authors interpret this theme:-)

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this collection, I think the publisher might be Stephanie Burgis’ own label, but I’m not sure.

  3. Wow, what an amazing idea – I love Stephanie Burgis so look forward to this one – I don’t normally read short stories but would definitely make an exception for this. Beautiful cover.

For some reason I committed to quite a few short story collections in the past few months, so I’ve been reading lots of them. And surprisingly, enjoying a lot of them:-)

Me too, Greg, I just love anything with water/the ocean on the cover, probably because blue is one of my favorite colors!
