Last week I featured Twelve 2018 Young Adult Sci Fi Books that I’m looking forward to, in case you missed it. And today, I’m giving a nod to Twelve 2018 Adult Sci Fi Books to get excited about! (Listed in order of release date):

Semiosis by Sue Burke. Release date: 2/6/18. I featured this book as a Waiting on Wednesday a while ago, and my excitement is still in high gear. This looks like such a cool first contact story!

Paris Adrift by E.J. Swift. Release date: 2/6/18. This book is going to appeal to fantasy fans as well. It’s set in the near future, but there are lots of fantastical elements. And the cover is to die for!

Outpost (Donovan Trilogy #1) by W. Michael Gear. Release date: 2/20/18. This is one of the LONGEST blurbs I’ve ever read, but despite that, this story about life on a new planet sounds really exciting.

Quietus by Tristan Palmgren. Release date: 3/6/18. Not sure if this is a time travel story or multi-universe story, but in any case I’m intrigued!

The Feed by Nick Clark Windo. Release date: 3/13/18. When you see a book compared to Station Eleven and The Girl with All the Gifts, you pay attention. This looks like a cautionary story about the collapse of an internet-like thing called the Feed.

Blackfish City by Sam J. Miller. Release date: 4/17/18. All I’m going to say about this is that one character rides an orca and has a polar bear sidekick. That is reason enough to add this to my TBR, but the rest of the story description sounds awesome too!

Head On (Lock In #2) by John Scalzi. Release date: 4/17/18. I really had fun with Lock In a couple of years ago, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into Scalzi’s crazy future world.

Before Mars (Planetfall #3) by Emma Newman. Release date: 4/17/18. Another entry in Newman’s stunning series, but what’s nice about these books is that they can all be read as stand-alones. So no need to fear if you haven’t started yet.

Eighty-Four K by Claire North. Release date: 4/26/18. Super excited to read this, Claire North always has unique ideas. In this book, you can legally commit crimes, provided you can pay the fee afterwards.

Only Human (Themis Files #3) by Sylvain Neuvel. Release date: 5/1/18. I’m really looking forward to the conclusion of this exciting series! I honestly can’t say that I’m very good about finishing a complete series, but this is one that I’ve stuck with, for good reason.

Medusa Uploaded (The Medusa Cycle #1) by Emily Devenport. Release date: 5/1/18. This sounds awesome! A story about a girl who bonds with a sentient AI and exacts vengeance against her former employers. Or something like that. In any case, I can’t wait to read this!

Drop by Drop (Step by Step #1) by Morgan Llywelyn. Release date: 6/26/18. Yes, THAT Morgan Llywelyn! I’ve read books by her years ago, but can’t even remember what I read. I’m so pleased to see something new of hers coming out. This seems completely different from her other books.

Are you intrigued by any of these books? Do you have any 2018 science fiction books that you’re excited about, that aren’t on this list?

  1. Oh my gosh, these all sound awesome! I have the first Sylvain Neuvel book on my shelf, should really get on that … And I absolutely NEED the Emma Newman one. And Sam J. Miller’s next one. And Semiosis sounds pretty amazing … Darnit I will not go on a book binge. I will not…

Ha ha, it’s hard not to binge, right? Yep, the new Emma Newman is way at the top of my “can’t wait” list.

  2. Aaah! Thank you so much for making this list! A majority of them have found their way to my TBR now. Really looking forward to these <3

  3. Wow, what a cover for Paris Adrift! I swear it looks familiar, and the title sounds familiar. Maybe I heard about it somewhere else before…

I’ve had my eye on Paris Adrift for a while now. I’m sure you’ve run across it on a blog at some point. Honestly, that cover is hard to forget!

And this is barely scratching the surface. I know there will be so many other new 2018 reads popping up!

  4. I’ve got an ARC of Blackfish City and am planning on reading it in December or January. I was also excited about the releases of Head On, Semiosis and Before Mars. Thanks for putting 84K and Medusa Uploaded on my radar! I didn’t know Claire North had a new novel coming out, and I’ve enjoyed a short story by Emily Devenport.

Other sci-fi books I’m looking forward to include Apocalypse Nyx by Kameron Hurley, Trail of Lightening by Rebecca Roanhorse, Blood Binds the Pack by Alex Wells, Artificial Condition by Martha Wells, and Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers.

It was so good, right? I can’t wait for Before Mars, hopefully it will be just as good, if not better:-)

Ha ha, it’s hard to surprise you with something new, lol! You’re my “go to” person for new books. But I know what you mean. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I already have the book on my TBR:-)

  5. Oh my gosh give me ALL the sci fi in 2018! So many good looking books… Semiosis looks creepy, and Blackfish City and Before Mars look great! 84K=cool idea, and the last Themis book means I better get started on book 2. So yeah half your list, at least, is probably going on my list. 🙂
