Twelve 2018 YA Sci Fi Books I Can’t Wait to Read! #RRSciFiMonth

November is Sci-Fi Month, hosted by Imyril and Lisa! If you aren’t participating, feel free to head on over to their blogs for more information on how you can join in. Lots of blogs are signed up, and you’ll be seeing reviews, top ten lists, giveaways, author interviews and lots more throughout the month. You can also follow the hashtag #RRSciFiMonth and @SciFiMonth on Twitter!

Today I’m highlighting twelve young adult science fiction books that are coming out in 2018, books I’ve already added to my TBR. 2018 looks like it’s going to be another great year for YA books, so strap on your seat belts and take a look (listed by release date):

A Conspiracy of Stars by Olivia A. Cole. Release date: 1/2/18. A story about a female scientist who is interested in studying the jungle environment of a world called Faloiv. I’m not sure this is technically science fiction, but I love stories about scientists and conspiracies, so I’m betting this will be a winning combination.

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Release date: 1/9/18. I loved the authors’ These Broken Stars, and I’m seeing lots of good reviews for this on Goodreads.

Sinless by Sarah Tarkoff. Release date: 1/9/18. Grace lives in a world where good and evil actions are reflected in a person’s appearance. Pretty cool idea!

Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre. Release date: 2/13/18. I chose this book mostly for the authors, although I have to say the story sounds really exciting. I’ll never turn down a story about female criminals!

Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. Release date: 2/27/18. A girl and her android? Yes, I will read any story about this subject matter, even if there is a romance between them!

Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda. Release date: 2/20/18. I think this book has had more release date changes than any book EVER (which makes me a little worried). I’ve literally been looking forward to this for two years or so. Bring it on, Courtney!

The Final Six by Alexandra Monir. Release date: 3/6/18. I’m not sure I have the correct cover, since there are two different covers by HarperTeen on Goodreads, but I do like this one. A competition among teens to be one of six who will get to scout a new planet.

Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Release date: 3/13/18. I’m unbelievably excited for the conclusion to this stellar YA sci-fi series! And you should be too! Can. Not. Wait.

Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie. Release date: 7/17/18. I really enjoyed Skrutskie’s The Abyss Surrounds Us, and this sounds amazing. Just go read the Goodreads description for yourself!

Sanctuary by Caryn Lix. Release date: 7/24/18. Any book comparing itself to Alien is one I’m going to check out for sure! This sounds all kinds of crazy/scary!

Contagion by Erin Bowman. Release date: 7/24/18. I’ve never read Bowman before, but I hear great things about her books. This sounds terrifying! And I can’t believe the release date is so far away!

Nine by Zach Hines. Release date: 8/7/18. This sounds really cool: Julian lives in a world where everyone has nine lives. Each new life is a chance to upgrade your intelligence and physical prowess. Such a great idea!

Check back next week when I’ll post my Top Twelve 2018 Adult Sci-Fi Books!

Are you planning to read any of these? Let me know if I’ve left off any YA SF books off my list:-D

Ha ha, well I do love to look ahead, so I guess finding books into next summer counts as that!

I’m so excited about Obsidio I can hardly wait, but a lot of these look really good. Now we just need more hours in the day:-)

And this is just scratching the surface. You know there are going to be a ton more that aren’t even on my radar yet:-)

I know! And I’ve been trying to get an ARC or eARC of Pitch Dark but haven’t succeeded so far, lol.

  1. Honor Among Thieves and Hullmetal Girls are the only ones here I’m planning on reading, though I might add a few more if I see good reviews. I haven’t been super up on YA sci-fi lately.

That said, I’ve got my eyes on these YA sci-fi stories:
    – The Cerulean by Amy Ewig, which looks like it could either be wonderful or a complete disaster.
    – A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna. “A multicultural YA space opera inspired by the Mahabharata.” I thought her first book was so-so, but I’m willing to see if she’s grown as an author.
    – Not Your Backup by C.B. Lee. A sequel to Not Your Sidekick.

I just looked up the books you listed and added them to my TBR! If I weren’t showcasing only those books whose covers had been revealed, I probably would have picked a couple of those as well!

  2. What a great list – so many good books to look forward to. I’ve already seen a couple of these but I’m very keen on Pitch Dark – even if it does seem to be suffering from constantly changing publication dates.

There are so many new books and authors next year, I know I’ve only found a small sample of them:-)

Ha ha thanks:-) Looking for upcoming books I want to read is one of the fun things about blogging!

  3. Brilliant list , Tammy! I’m so bad at keeping an eye on upcoming books, but luckily I’ve got you to turn to 😀 Contagion sounds amazing. Definitely putting that on my wishlist.
