Waiting on Wednesday [258] – CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE by Tomi Adeyemi

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

I saw this cover this past week and I nearly fell off my chair. This is my favorite cover of the year so far, and there have been some excellent covers in 2017! Take a look:

Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.

But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.

Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.

Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Releases in March 2018 from Henry Holt Books for Young Readers. The cover art is by Rich Deas, and I think it’s amazing. Apparently, the book has already been optioned for film and is in production (!). It takes a special looking/sounding YA book to get me excited, but I think this does a great job.

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

I agree, I feel like it will do well, especially having already been optioned for film.
