As I have in the past couple of years, I’ve joined Worlds Without End’s 2017 Women of Genre Fiction Reading Challenge. I’m hoping to read twenty-four books by new-to-me women authors in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. I thought I’d do a quick “end of the first quarter” check-in to see how it’s going:-D
So I am cheating a bit, there are a couple of authors on the list that aren’t “new to me,” but I figure I’d leave them up for now, and hopefully I’ll be able to replace them with “new” authors later in the year. Eight books so far isn’t bad, but I need to keep up the momentum so that I can ultimately replace some of these with “new” authors at some point. Look for my “half-year” check-in at the end of June!

I didn’t know that site was still up. I took part in that challenge several years back but it was way too easy as a reviewer, I didn’t even have to try. Which I guess is a good thing?

Yeah, if it’s way too easy for you I guess you should congratulate yourself! I find its hard to fill the slot of “new to me” authors, because I tend to read the same authors over and over.
I joined this challenge last year after reading about it here. This year I went a bit nuts with the Worlds Without End challenges – I signed up for this one again, the 48 book goal since only 12 have to be “new to you.” I also signed on for the “Read the Sequel” challenge, because I’m terrible at continuing series. And then, thanks to all the fab stuff from Tor, I’m doing the “Tor.com Free Short Fiction Reading Challenge” and the “Big Fun in a Little Package Novella Challenge.”
I need to go back onto the site – I really couldn’t work out how to post my review of ‘new to me’ female authors, but I have taken part all my own. I think you’re doing very well – as for me… after a strong start, it’s all gone peelie-wallie this month. But hopefully April will be better for me.

You’re doing great! I’m participating in the challenge as well this year. Only at 4 or 5 though because of the “new to me” rule and the site database also doesn’t appear to have all my books unfortunately. :\

8 books really isn’t too bad 🙂 I’m doing Blogger Shame and Mount TBR. Not doing so well on Blogger Shame, I have only read like 3, and I have 70 ARCs that qualify… but the Mount TBR is better. My goal is 36, I have 27 outstanding ones right now.
