Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine (?? Still wondering if anyone knows what happened to Jill. Hope she’s OK), and is a way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
I’ve known about this book for a few months, but I just saw the cover for the first time on Edelweiss of all places! Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge Daryl Gregory fan, and I’m so excited for THIS book:
A generations-spanning family of psychics–both blessed and burdened by their abilities–must use their powers to save themselves from the CIA, the local mafia, and a skeptic hell-bent on discrediting them in this hilarious, tender, magical novel about the invisible forces that bind us.
The Telemachus family is known for performing inexplicable feats on talk shows and late-night television. Teddy, a master conman, heads up a clan who possess gifts he only fakes: there’s Maureen, who can astral project; Irene, the human lie detector; Frankie, gifted with telekinesis; and Buddy, the clairvoyant. But when, one night, the magic fails to materialize, the family withdraws to Chicago where they live in shame for years. Until: As they find themselves facing a troika of threats (CIA, mafia, unrelenting skeptic), Matty, grandson of the family patriarch, discovers a bit of the old Telemachus magic in himself. Now, they must put past obstacles behind them and unite like never before. But will it be enough to bring The Amazing Telemachus Family back to its amazing life?
Spoonbenders: A Novel by Daryl Gregory. Releases June 27 2017 from Knopf. Honestly, I don’t even care about the plot of Gregory’s next book, I will seriously read anything he writes. But having said that, I think this is going to be fantastic! I was also thrilled that Knopf approved my e-galley request so quickly! Maybe it was the gushing message I sent them along with my request:-) In any case, this is one of my most anticipated books for 2017, and now that the cover is live, I can share my excitement:-)
I’ve not read this author before but this sounds so original I may not be able to pass it up. I love that it’s described as hilarious, tender and magical. Sounds like a great combination to me!

He’s SO good, Barb. I think you’d enjoy his books.
Ohhhhh, now that I’ve checked Goodreads to add this one, I made the connection. I own Harrison Squared and need to read it because tentacles on the cover of course. Some of his others look great as well. Thanks for helping my mind out right now – it really seems to need it haha!

This sounds FUN. I’ve only read Raising Stony Mayhall by him but We Are All Completely Fine has been on my TBR for far too long. Might have to add this one too now. haha

This one sounds more on the “lighter” side. We Are All… was pretty heavy. But I still recommend it highly:-)
Thanks so much for introducing me to this author with Harrison Squared – I’m adding this to my tbr!
Check out my TTT and my current giveaways.
Happy to spread the word:-D
Now this sounds like one for me. Thanks for the heads up!

I don’t think I’ve read this author – but this certainly sounds incredibly intriguing.

I’d never heard of this book until now, but it sounds like so much fun! I really like the sound of the humor that this one holds and the whole aspect of the powers, the CIA chasing them too. This sounds like it is going to be so fun to read!
