Over-Booked [56] – A Book Haul Post

Over-Booked is my every-other-week or so post to share the books I’ve been getting for review, purchased or won. I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Another light couple of weeks as far as new review books go:-) It usually slows down near the end of the year, but I’ve also been very good about requesting, especially on NetGalley and Edelweiss, which is why I only have one new digital book this week. Yay me!

Physical review books:

ob-9-10

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. This was a surprise from the new children’s imprint from Little, Brown Books, Jimmy Patterson Books, spearheaded by, you guessed it, James Patterson! This actually sounds really good, and I fully intend to fit this into the schedule in the next month or two. Thanks to Little, Brown Books!

The Motion of Puppets by Keith Donohue. Hot off my recent Waiting on Wednesday post, I shot off a request email to the publisher and this book literally landed on my doorstep three days later! EEE! I’m so excited to read this, big thanks to Picador!

The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp. I was surprised and thrilled to get this copy, because I don’t remember requesting it. But I’ve read so many awesome reviews that I was planning on getting a copy anyway. I’m going to try to squeeze this in this month. Thank you Orbit!

Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter. Another surprise, this time from Tor. I got an ARC of Vassa at Comic Con this summer, and this finished copy reminded me that I need to read this. Thank you Tor!

Purchased:

ob-9-10-2

Special signed and numbered edition of Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I ordered this from Goldsboro Books, a specialty book store in the UK that sells limited editions. I love the UK cover for Nevernight, and so I decided I needed a finished copy of this amazing book.

Digital review book:

when-the-moon

When the Moon was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore. I really loved her first book, The Weight of Feathers, and I’m very excited to be joining the blog tour for her latest. Check out my stop on the tour next month!

That’s it for me, let me know if you’ll be reading any of these books:-)

  1. I’ve heard good things about Vassa In The Night and Stalking Jack the Ripper, so I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts on them. And while I haven’t read Nevernight, I FINALLY read Stormdancer recently. It’s pretty good! The flowery writing really slowed things down during the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the book, but once Yukiko met Buruu I couldn’t imagine putting it down. In fact, Buruu was my favorite character in the book! πŸ™‚

  2. I like the UK cover for Nevernight more as well, with the crow. Plus the red, blue, yellow orbs over the front, spine, and back represent the three suns, I’m guessing, which is a lot more meaningful. That signed edition is too cool! I also got a surprise copy of Vassa in the Night a couple days ago, really looking forward to checking it out!

I had to go look at my book right now because I hadn’t realized all three suns were represented. Very cool:-)
