1. Charlie Jane Anders
Charlie Jane Anders is the editor at i09.com, but she’s also a very talented author. Her first novel All the Birds in the Sky was just released, and I loved her blend of science fiction and fantasy, which along with her quirky writing style, makes this an unusual and magical story. Recommended for fans of coming-of-age stories, interesting characters who don’t do what you expect, genre mashups, and cool gadgets!

2. Will McIntosh
Will McIntosh has just published his first YA book Burning Midnight, and I had a blast reading it! He’s also the author of Love Minus Eighty and Defenders, which I can’t wait to read. Will has written a bunch of other books and short stories, he won a Hugo for his short story Bridesicle in 2010, and his novel Defenders has been optioned for film! He is one busy guy:-) Burning Midnight is recommended for fans of adventure stories, and readers who love crazy twists.

3. Matt Wallace
Matt Wallace’s Envy of Angels was such a happy surprise for me! He’s since published the second book in his Sin du Jour series, Lustlocked, and the third book, Pride’s Spell, will be out this summer. I’ve said this in my reviews, but I’ll say it again: I’m a tough audience when it comes to humor in fiction. I do have a sense of humor but it’s very particular. So imagine my delight when Envy of Angels made me laugh out loud! This is one author to watch, folks! The Sin du Jour series is recommended for readers who love subversive humor, outrageous story elements and spot-on dialogue.

I have been wanting to read All the Birds in the Sky ever since I heard about this book in a podcast. I want to go into it not knowing anything more than the brief synopsis they gave the listeners so I’ve been keeping away from all the talk about this book but I’m still really excited!
I am not as familiar with the other books, but I’d still love to give them a try…
