Over-Booked (11) – A Book Haul Post

Over booked banner

Welcome to my book haul post, Over-Booked, where I share my most recent book acquisitions! I’m happy to be linking up with Stacking the Shelves and The Sunday Post.

This week’s books include one VERY EXCITING REVIEW COPY, which I’ve been hanging on to for a couple of weeks, and the rest are purchases. See if you can spot the review copy, ha ha!

over booked 9-20

OK, so yes, the review copy is Endsinger by Jay Kristoff. I was asked to join the blog tour, which kicks off in November, and I couldn’t be more excited!! I’m a HUGE fan of The Lotus War books (Stormdancer and Kinslayer), and Endsinger is the final book in the series *weep* In fact, if things go the same way as the other books, I will indeed be weeping by the end of this book! I will also be giving away an ARC during the tour (you can see it peeking out!), so don’t forget to come back in November to read my review. Huge huge thanks to Melissa at St. Martin’s Press!!

After finishing and adoring Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel on my Kindle, I immediately ran to my local Barnes & Noble and picked up a hard cover of the book. Truly wonderful, I am going to recommend this book to everyone I know, and strangers too! Plus, it was just long-listed for the National Book Award, how cool is that??

After posting my Top Ten Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From, I took my own advice and picked up a copy of Winger by Andrew Smith. Looking forward to diving in soon!

I recently signed up for Book Riot‘s monthly book club called Riot Read. For $30 a month, Book Riot picks a “book of the month” which is a surprise until you open the package. I am such a sucker for these “surprise” deals! OK, I know it seems expensive for one book, but hey, it’s the experience you’re paying for as well. There is also a members-only Goodreads group where you can discuss the book. This month the pick was Lucky Us by Amy Bloom, a book I’ve seen around but hadn’t given much thought to. Now I’m thoroughly intrigued and can’t wait to read it!

So there you go. I’m thankful for a small book haul this week, and hope to skip next weekend entirely. Link me up to your book haul posts, or let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these books:-)

  1. What a lovely pile, Tammy! I’ve got both “Winger” and the LotusWar trilogy on my TBR, and now I definitely have “Station Eleven” as well – it sounds gorgeous!

  2. Oh Endsinger, you lucky! Is it as ginormous as it looks? I’m thinking of preordering the audiobook for that one. I don’t know if I have time to cram in another “read” book in November, but I want to read it so badly, so it’ll have to be a “listen” book 🙂

  3. Heard wonderful things about The Winger by Andrew Smith, so interested to hear your thoughts on that one. See if it really is worth the hype 🙂 The others look great too. I’m a cover whore, so I love beautiful ones

  4. I heard the Endsinger is so wonderful, but I haven’t read the first two books in the series so I’m really thinking of reading them first. Hihi! Anyway enjoy your new books!

    Newly Owned to Read! #3

PS: Sad that I can only afford ebooks for now, but I won an ARC for Zodiac by Romina Russell! I’m so excited!

  5. Oh my gosshhh you got Endsinger! Congrats on joining the blog tour for that one, those covers are just so gorgeous. Riot Read sounds like a really good idea and lots of fun. Have a lovely week reading all those goodies Tammy!

Oooooh Station Eleven! I’m dying to read that one. Hadn’t heard much about it until it got the nomination for the National Book Award but once I finally took the time to read the summary, um, on the TBR you go awesome sounding book. Enjoy your new reads!
