Over-Booked (4): A Book Haul Post

Over booked banner copy

Over-Booked is my book haul post, where I’m happy to be joining up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. I have been really good about NOT requesting review books from NetGalley and Edelweiss, so this week I just have physical books, and one digital book for a blog tour in a couple of weeks. Here is what I received:

20140620_195158_resizedPurchased:

Fourth of July Creek by Smith Henderson. From everything I’ve read about this book, it’s going to be a hit. I don’t often have time to read straight up literary fiction these days, but I’m making every effort to read this one.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Do I really need to say anything??

Koko Takes a Holiday by Kieran Shea. I can’t remember where I ran across this title, but it sounds a-ma-zing and I love the graphic novel-like cover. (No, it’s not a graphic novel.)

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. (Not pictured). It’s not pictured, because my daughter is currently reading it. I got this edition from Barnes & Noble, and it’s got GORGEOUS artwork on the front and back inside covers. I think it’s a special edition. Does anyone else have this one?

For Review:

Falling Sky by Rajan Khanna. Airships and pirates? Sounds like a winner to me!

The Boy Who Drew Monsters by Keith Donohue. I read Donohue’s first book, The Stolen Child, years ago, so I’m looking forward to this one, which looks like horror.

California Bones by Greg Van Eekhout. I’m not sure how I got this lovely finished copy, but I may have requested it from a Publishers Weekly email. Sometimes I do that but of course I never remember it afterward. In any case, I’m DYING to read this book, especially since it takes place in my own backyard, Los Angeles. I think it has something to do with the La Brea Tar Pits (but I’m not certain). Just click the link and read the description, you’ll want to read this too!

Thank you Tor Books, Pyr and Picador!

For blog tour:

Rebel Nation

Rebel Nation by Shaunta Grimes. I really loved Shaunta’s first book, Viral Nation, and I’m looking forward to revisiting Clover and her service dog Mango. My tour stop is July 4th! Thank you, Shaunta!

That’s my haul, folks! Let me know what awesome books you got this week!

    • That’s why I finally broke down and bought her books. I thought I was the last person on the planet that hadn’t read any Rainbow! I’m so glad to find out I’m not:-)

  1. What a great haul. Looks like we have similar interest as all of these are appealing. Curious about The Boy Who Drew Monsters. I do love my horror and the title is interesting.
Rebel Nation has an excellent cover. And I like the doggie:)

  2. Oh, Koko Takes a Holiday is out? I had the same exact thought process as you when I saw that book and cover! It just looked too cool not to add to my wishlist. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it!

  3. I grabbed The Boy Who Drew Monsters at BEA because I thought it sounded really interesting. I’ve never read anything by that author before, so I am glad you have and liked it. I hope it’s awesome!

  4. I MUST have Koko takes a Holiday! Indeed I saw it on the shelf in the bookstore on Sunday and thought hmmm that might be worth buying but the hubs chased me out of the store saying “You came to pick up ONE book you said it’s time to GO” *weeps*
