Waiting on Wednesday (99) BROOD by Chase Novak

WOW banner 2014 copy

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share the upcoming books we’re excited about. Last year I read Breed by Chase Novak, and now it looks like a sequel, or at least a companion novel, is coming out called Brood. Take a look:

Brood

Brood by Chase Novak. Release date: October 7 2014 (Mulholland Books). I really enjoyed Breed. It was creepy and well-written, and this book looks like the main characters, who were young children, are older in this story. I’m loving this eerie cover, and I think it’s much better than the cover of Breed. Here’s what Goodreads says:

Adam and Alice are reaching the age when some of the children created by the fertility treatment that spawned them begin to turn feral. Will they succumb to the same physiological horror that destroyed their parents? Every change brings on terror–the voice cracking as it changes, the swelling of the breasts, the coarsening of down into actual hair. Their aunt, Cynthia, oversees renovations to the Twisden family’s Manhattan residence–torn apart by the children’s parents at their most savage–and struggles to give her niece and nephew the unconditional love they never had. Meanwhile, in the world outside, the forces of good and evil collide as a troop of feral offspring threatens to invade the refuge Cynthia is so determined to construct behind the Twisdens’ walls.

  1. Hmm. Good thing there is a link to your BREED review right below so I can figure out if I have heard of this or just forgotten.

      • Not sarcasm! The review was the first one on your semi-random linker.

Give the dog lots of love, little guys deserve it.

        • Oh I always forget that WP puts those down there. Although your comment worked well as a sarcastic one nonetheless:-) (and I approve of sarcasm!)

  2. OMG I had not seen Breed before – TOTALLY jumping on that ASAP! I love the cover of Brood too – I’m excited I stumbled on this! And is it my imagination (or lack of observation from previous visits LOL) or did you get a new design?! I LOVE IT! Especially your button 😀
