Book Bonanza (1) Otherwise Known as Stacking the Shelves

Welcome to Book Bonanza, my book haul post, where I will be linking up with both Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  I’ve been wanting to link up with Kimba for a while, so this will work out great, I think! For the past two weeks I received a nice mix of physical books and e-books for review, and I bought a few as well. Here’s what I have:

Physical books for review:

Motherless Child by Glen Hirshberg. I requested an ARC of this book, but a little too late, and they ran out. But thank you to Tor for sending me a finished copy instead! I can’t wait to read this creepy vampire story.

Broken Forest by Eliza Tilton. Eliza emailed me and offered a copy of her book, and it sounded so good to me, that I accepted.  Thank you Eliza, I can’t wait to read it!

The Savages by Matt Whyman. I’m on the blog tour for this, and I’m pretty excited about it. It sounds hysterical…

The Merciless by Danielle Vega. Funny story. I requested this on Edelweiss and I was turned down. But later a wonderful publicist from Razorbill saw my Waiting on Wednesday post highlighting The Merciless, and she offered to send me an ARC.  Weird, right? I’m not complaining, I am beyond excited to have this ARC in my hands. Not only is this horror, but it’s truly one of the prettiest ARCs I’ve ever seen (I know, you can’t really tell from my crappy photo!)

Thank you Tor, Eliza, Razorbill and Hot Key Books!

From Edelweiss/NetGalley:

Darkness Bound by J.T. Giessinger. Oh you guys, if you know me at all, you know I’m J.T.’s biggest fan. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into her latest. This is Book #5 in the series, by the way.

Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis. I’ve read some really great reviews of this book, and I’m looking forward to it.

Child of a Hidden Sea by A.M. Dellamonica. Not only do I love this cover immensely, but this fantasy sounds A. Ma. Zing.

Jackaby by William Ritter.  Doctor Who meets Sherlock??? Yes please!

The Wilds by Julia Elliott. This is without a doubt my favorite cover of the bunch. Isn’t this the most awesome cover ever?? This is a debut short story collection, and I’m getting vibes of Kelly Link and Karen Russell from this book.

Big thanks to Montlake Romance, Amulet Books, Tor Books, Algonquin and Tin House Books!

Purchased:

Honor’s Knight and Heaven’s Queen by Rachel Bach. I have the first book in the series, now they’re all lined up in a row so I can binge read them!

Those are my books, please share your book haul in the comments and leave me a link!

  1. Holy crow the cover of The Wilds is stunning. I absolutely cannot wait to try those stories, and if they’re in the same vein as Kelly Link / Karen Russell there will probably be tons of weirdness to think about. The image there reminds me of the film MirrorMask, which is absolutely a good thing.

Child Of A Hidden Sea and Jackaby are newly added to my list, now. Jackaby especially sounds like it’ll be great for Autumn, with spooky historical mysteries involved. Looks to be great stuff in your reading future.

  2. You received some really cool looking books, Tammy! I’m excited for you that you received Darkness Bound. Always a treat to get an early look at a book in a favorite series. The Savages, Jackaby and The Wild caught my eye, and I’m going to start reading Otherbound soon.
    Have a great weekend 🙂
