Stacking the Shelves (49)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, and is a fun way to share your book haul for the week. I got some books from Amazon delivered this week, and there’s another batch on the way, which I’ll share next time. I also have a few new NetGalley titles, all of them Waiting on Wednesday picks, which is pretty cool! And, even though it’s not technically a book, I scored something else (keep reading if you’re curious). Here’s what I received:

For Review from NetGalley:

Hexed by Michelle Krys. Witches! I am really in the witch groove right now, and I can’t wait to read this. I don’t know why, but I’m getting a Buffy vibe from this.

Morningside Fall by Jay Posey. Oh Jay, you killed me with Three, and now you’re going to kill me again, right? This is book two in his Legends of the Duskwalker series. Amazing fantasy by an amazing writer.

Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn. I loved Kuehn’s Charm & Strange, it was so unusual. I’m hoping for more awesomeness from this follow-up.

Peacemaker by Marianne de Pierres. Marianne has lots of books out, but I’ve never read her before. Everything about this sounds like fun. Click on the link and read the synopsis!

Purchased:

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab. I can’t wait to read the follow-up to The Archived! I need me some more Wesley:)

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve seen this book on many end-of-the-year best lists, so I finally broke down and bought a copy.

Fortune’s Pawn by Rachel Bach. This book is highly rated by many bloggers that I trust, so of course I’m going to buy a copy:-)

And now for the other super exciting thing that happened this week. I got my San Diego Comic Con tickets! Whoopee! After lots of waiting, crying (my daughter, not me) and other various dramas, we managed to get tickets. My husband has official dubbed the Comic Con ticket acquisition process “Drama Con.”

That’s all for this week! I’d love to hear what’s on your shelves. Link me up!

    • It’s so hard to get tickets no matter where you live. There’s never a guarantee even if you’ve been in the past. But I hear there are some awesome cons in Australia, which I will never be able to go to:)

  1. Dang. Everyone is suddenly raving about Three, just as its sequel comes out. How did Three fly over my radar completely at the time?
Fortunes Pawn is awesome. It is known.

  2. Yay for SDCC! Glad you got a copy of Complicit, and Fortune’s Pawn also sounds fantastic. I grabbed that one recently and can’t wait to check it out.
    Enjoy the long weekend!

So jealous of your ComicCon Tickets! I’ve always wanted to go to the San Diego one but since it’s just not feasable I’ve only go to the Toronto one. Maybe one day.

  4. I wasn’t going to request Morningside Fall at first because my NetGalley load is on the verge of being bit out of hand at the moment…but then I saw that it was a READ NOW and well, that was the end of that! I enjoyed Three a lot!

I watched the big bang theory comic con episode with James Earl Jones the other night – and it breaks my heart just how impossible it will be for me to ever get tickets. Makes me feel like a bitter ugly troll.

    • No no no! Not impossible. I got tickets for the first time last year, during open registration. You have to try! Just make sure you have a registered user name and password, and when the tickets go on sale, you’ll get an email with all the info. Don’t ever give up! I couldn’t even get tickets for my son yet (because he didn’t go last year) so I also have to try to get his during open registration.

Sigh – alright I’ll try – when is open registration anyway? I guess I better set up that user name and password stat!

        • I don’t even know when it is, but I would think in March sometime. They don’t tell you until a couple of days before, they’re very sneaky! Go to the website and register now! You can’t get tickets without a user name.
