I’m happy to be back on schedule with new Waiting on Wednesday picks, after taking a break for the holidays. Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine and is a fun way to share upcoming book releases that you’re excited about! This week my pick is:
Blackfin Sky by Kat Ellis. Release date: 2014 US (Running Press Kids). I can’t remember how I stumbled across this title, but I love the cover and the idea of a circus in the woods has me hooked. I believe this is the UK cover from Firefly Press, which means the US release date is probably late 2014. Nevertheless, it looks really good:
When Sky falls from Blackfin Pier and drowns on her sixteenth birthday, the whole town goes into mourning – until she shows up three months later like nothing happened.
Unravelling the mystery of those missing months takes Sky to the burned-out circus in the woods, where whispers of murder and kidnapping begin to reveal the town’s secrets. But Sky’s not the only one digging up the past – the old mime from the circus knows what happened to her, and he has more than one reason for keeping quiet about it.
Sounds good, right? I hope the US cover is just as good! I love the way the lightning goes right through the “I” in the word “fin.” What are you waiting on this week? Let me know!
I love how mysterious this sounds. I find circuses a bit creepy, so this could be a really thrilling read. I can’t wait so read some reviews!

Ooh, this does sound like a really interesting book. And I absolutely love the cover, too. Gorgeous colors, and the thing with the lightning going through the “I” that you pointed out is so cool!

This book sounds really strange and awesome! I hadn’t heard of it before this, but now I’m curious! I mean the whole circus in the woods sounds right up my alley!

OMG Tammy. I want this book. I must have this book. I haven’t had great luck with circus books but I don’t care. I’m still going to take the chance!

I’ve never heard of this book but OOOO, THE COVER! I love the lightning and the sky and the water and ahhhh, it looks so cool! Tammy, I hope you read and love this one! I’m looking forward to that review 😉
