Something Wicked Returns Blog Hop! Win a Copy of THE SHINING or NOS4A2!

Welcome to the Something Wicked Returns Blog Hop, hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, The Nocturnal Library, Candace’s Book Blog and My Guilty Obsession! This hop will run for the entire month of October, and we’re celebrating the season by offering some pretty scary giveaways;) For my stop, I’m offering one international winner their choice of a paperback copy of The Shining by Stephen King or Joe Hill’s latest horror behemoth novel NOS4A2Here’s more about these books from two of the masters of horror:

The Shining2Danny was only five years old but in the words of old Mr Halloran he was a ‘shiner’, aglow with psychic voltage. When his father became caretaker of the Overlook Hotel his visions grew frighteningly out of control.

As winter closed in and blizzards cut them off, the hotel seemed to develop a life of its own. It was meant to be empty, but who was the lady in Room 217, and who were the masked guests going up and down in the elevator? And why did the hedges shaped like animals seem so alive?

Somewhere, somehow there was an evil force in the hotel – and that too had begun to shine…

NOS4A2NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.

Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.”

Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

If you haven’t read The Shining yet, this is your chance to catch up before you pick up Doctor Sleep, the sequel.  Rules: This giveaway is international provided The Book Depository ships to your country (Please check here before you enter to make sure your country is included) and runs through October 31st. One winner will be randomly selected and notified via email. Winner will have 48 hours to respond, or an alternate winner will be chosen. Are you ready to enter? 1. Me needz NOS4A2 =] I hope I win – it will be like birthday gift from luck hehe because my b-day is actually on Oct 31st – and thats the thing I like the most about Halloween – it’s also my birthday! Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win S2

  2. BookLady

My favorite thing about Halloween is trick-or-treating by the young children in costume. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  3. I love so many things about Halloween.. There are fabulous parties, great decorations, and so many new paranormal reads for ME! (Okay, the last is my favorite.) I love dressing up with my children for Trick or Treating, though. It’s so much fun. Thanks for the great giveaway. You are featuring two of my very favorite authors. michelle_willms@yahoo.com

  4. Bonnie Franks

My favorite part of Halloween doesn’t exist anymore. It used to be when in small neighborhoods children (that you knew) dressed up and came to your door with their parents and you tried to guess who it was. So now I settle for awesome yard decorations! Have been dying to read the Joe Hill book (have The Shining on my shelf). Thank you for the opportunity!

  5. Anne Consolacion

I love costume parties and scary movie marathon! And I love this blog hop! I’m a scary and spooky books fan. 🙂

  6. Fav part of Halloween? Seeing everyone’s costumes – or seeing really GOOD costumes! Not just the ones purchased at a store. =)

  7. Josh Atkins

Honestly? Nowadays it’s the excuse to huddle up in my house with the lights out so that no one knows I’m home. 🙂

  8. mattgreenbean

I like the Christmas version of NOS4R2, it’s a little twisted. Favorite Halloween thing, spending lunch break going to the Halloween stores.

  9. oriana

i like the candies!! and how people put ornaments in their houses!!
thanks! i would like to read the shinning!

  10. I adore the whole spooky atmosphere that this holiday brings, and I love the pumpkins! 😀 Great choice of books, I’m a huge fan of Stephen King! Thanks! 🙂

  11. SuzReads

I love the candy and all of the creative costumes! Thanks for this amazing giveaway – I would love to win!

  13. Christine L.

Favorite thing about Hallowe’en — dressing up as an alter ego and then visiting as many haunted houses in my area as possible.

  14. My favorite thing is probably the candy(: But I am dressing up this year, so I am looking forward to that.
Thanks for the giveaway, I’ve been meaning to find out what The Shining was about and holy cow it sounds creepy! Yay for Stephen King 😀

  15. My favorite thing about Halloween is the smell. You have this earthen decay smell mixed with a hint of sweetness from the candy and pumpkins. Everything is crisp and clean and it’s just so damn lovely. Next to that it’d have to be designing costumes and decorating. Also oo Apple Cider!!

  16. Mirjam

Although Halloween is not celebrated in my country, I do like to ‘experience’ it on television or in books. However, my favourite thing about Halloween is that it is my sister’s birthday! 🙂

  17. _Sandra_

We don’t celebrate Halloween where I live, but I think I would probably enjoy all the Halloween themed parties, dressing up and, of course, lots and lots of candies.
    Thanks for a giveaway! 🙂
