What’s On My Plate – April 2013

On My PlateHappy April, everyone! I guess I’m a couple of days late with this post, but better late than never, right?  I did pretty good with my reading list last month, but I am a bit behind. I’m trying not to stress too much over that:)

I just got back from WonderCon in Anaheim, and had a blast. There weren’t very many book-related events, but I did get into the Much Ado About Nothing movie panel and saw one of my very favorite people in the world, Joss Whedon! He’s just as cool as he is on all the Buffy, Angel & Firefly commentary DVDs. Unfortunately, Nathan Fillion was supposed to be there, but was unable to attend:( But Tom Lenk was there, and he was hysterical!

So, here’s what I’ve got going on in April:

For Review:

Violet DawnArclightThe Sweetest DarkClub MonstrosityThe Inner City

These are all April releases, with the exception of The Inner City, which came out a couple of months ago. It was a “read now” download on NetGalley, and since it’s a collection of short stories, it should be easy to squeeze in between other books.

Blog Tours:

StrangeletsLichgatesSilencing BreathResidue

Yep, this seems to be the Month of the Blog Tour for me! I’m not sure how I wound up on so many tours, but I’m very excited about all of them! There is even a fifth tour that I may be placed on at the end of April, but I haven’t heard about that one yet, so I won’t list it. Don’t you love the way these covers all have the same hues and look beautiful next to each other? I swear I didn’t plan it that way:)

Strangelets by Michelle Gagnon – My stop is this Saturday April 6th.

Lichgates by S.M. Boyce – My stop is April 9th.

Silencing Breath by Joanne Brothwell – My stop is April 11th.

Residue by Laury Falter – My stop is April 25th.

Bookish Events:

Los Angeles Time Festival of Books – April 20-21, 2013 – USC Campus

It’s been years since I attended this event. I don’t know why, I live in Los Angeles! Like any big event, it always seems like it’s going to be a hassle to get there, park, and get around through the masses of people who attend. But I’m going with my friend Alicia this year and I can’t wait! I haven’t looked over the schedule, but I know there will be tons of authors appearing, speaking, and signing books, not to mention celebrities. You can check it out for yourself here. It’s a free event, although I think there is a parking fee. Let me know if you’re going, maybe we can hook up!

Booked in Burbank

Book’d in Burbank! OMG this event is next Thursday! Thanks to Liz Donatelli for bringing this to my attention. I wasn’t able to make it to the last Book’d in Burbank, but I’m really going to try to get to this one. I just looked at the author line-up, and Michelle Gagnon is going to be there! (I’m reading her book, Strangelets, right now.) Click on the image above to go to the website for more information and to order tickets.

That’s it for me, hope you have some great reads coming up this month too:)
